Biodegradable Packaging
We all want to make a contribution toward ensuring clean water, clean air and outdoor spaces free of trash. But it's challenging when so much of what we purchase comes in non-recyclable form and, even if it is labeled recyclable that doesn't always ensure it will be.
Thankfully there have been significant advances in plant-based technology that enables a small business like ours to provide biodegradable and compostable packaging solutions without breaking the bank. We're grateful to be able to provide bags and labels that are 100% biodegradable. This includes the gas valve (keeps air out, let's CO2 escape) and the zipper. When you are done with your coffee bag you can confidently put it in your solid waste trash and know that it will degrade harmlessly in the landfill.

The bags have a home compostable certification by Vincotte, recently assumed by TUV Austria, and are certified to use the OK Compost Home conformity mark. The mark indicates the bags meet specific technical requirements for composting at home (versus industrial composting), established in 2003. These requirements formed the basis for the following standards:
- Australia: AS 5810 (2010) – Biodegradable plastics - Biodegradable plastics suitable for home composting
- France: NF T 51800 (2015) – Plastics — Specifications for plastics suitable for home composting
- Europe: prEN 17427 (2020) - Packaging — Requirements and test scheme for carrier bags suitable for treatment in well-managed home composting installations
The label is also biodegradable and complies with 21CFR175.105, Child Toy and Safety Act, CONEG, CPSIA, REACH and CA Prop 65. CP1 adhesive is also Acid, BPA and APEO Free.
The bags we use for local delivery are also 100% biodegradable and recyclable.
